The 2016 Geoffrey Belmaine Stakes will be held on February 13th.

The female-only sprint takes place as part of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival and obtained its Group 3 status in 2007.

Previously a Listed event, the Geoffrey Belmaine Stakes is run on action-packed day at Caulfield that also includes the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes, Group 2 Autumn Stakes, Group 2 Rubiton Stakes, Group 3 Carlyon Stakes, and the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preludes.

Horses often head into the back-type event on the back of other early autumn races including the Group 2 Australia Stakes and the Listed Doveton Stakes.

Those that perform well in the Geoffrey Belmaine Stakes may go on to feature at other autumn events including the Group 2 Mannerism Stakes.

The Geoffrey Belmaine Stakes often receives a lot of interest from punters across the country who are predominantly tuning in for the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes.
