A classy list of 18 mares have been included in 2015 Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) nominations, highlighted by some of the Autumn Carnival’s most exciting racing prospects.
Undoubtedly finding career-best form over the 2014 Spring Carnival, trainer Pat Hyland has included Bonaria in 2015 Bellmaine Stakes nominations.
Securing eight wins and a further nine minor places over her 40 start career so far, Bonaria placed sixth amongst classy company in a minor over 1100m first-up on August 16th, but was unable to match the late pace when eighth in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) on August 30th.
Returning to competitive condition when running on for fourth in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) on September 13th, the Redoute’s Choice mare was again unable to figure when 13th in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) on October 4th.
Unlucky to be checked and seventh in the Group 3 Ladies Day Vase (1600m) on October 15th, Bonaria responded in the best way possible when charging home to take out the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) in impressive fashion on October 15th.
Girl Guide secured several commendable results for David Hayes and Tom Dabernig over spring and has been included in nominations for a racing return in the 2015 Bellmaine Stakes.
Finishing outside the places just once in her eleven competitive starts so far, Girl Guide charged home to win a minor over 1200m upon returning in spring before making a successful transition to black type racing in the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) on September 20th.
Placing second to fellow Bellmaine Stakes nominee Griante in the Group 3 Sportingbet Series Final (1200m) on October 11th, the Churchill Downs mare placed second to standout performer Sweet Idea in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on October sixth before a credible performance for sixth in the Myer Classic most recently.
Having reportedly performed well in work over recent weeks, an ideal barrier will make Girl Guide particularly difficult to beat in the 2015 Bellmaine Stakes.
Securing five wins and a further four minor places over 14 competitive starts of her own, Griante placed fourth in the Cove Hotel FM (1200m) first-up on September 17th before placing fourth in the Citiopera Plate (1100m) on September 28th.
Returning to the winner’s circle in the Sportingbet Series Final on October 11th, the Good Journey mare faded in form over her last two starts in spring, but is sure to perform well first-up in the 2015 Bellmaine Stakes.
A final field and barrier draw for the 2015 Bellmaine Stakes is due to be completed and released on Wednesday.
